Meaning of Sexual Harassment

Any unwelcome behaviour of sexual nature in the work place or learning place. It includes the following behaviours :-

• Demanding sexual favours in exchange of preferential treatment.

• Penalizing a person for refusing to submit to sexual advances.

• Making obscene gesture, joke, remarks of sexual nature about a particular gender.

• Inappropriately touching or stalking a person, making suggestive comments.

• Asking questions about a person’s private life, sexual display of graphic materials such as posters, photographs, MMS.

Uttaranchal Institute of Technology has set up Anti Sexual Harassment Committee against sexual harassment. The committee consists of the following members:-

• Faculty

• Administration

• Representative of Management

• Student Representatives

Objective of the Committee

• Prevent any kind of discrimination on the basis of gender.

• Prevent sexual harassment of women.

• Deal with cases of discrimination and recommend punitive action against the miscreant, to the management.

• To create physical and social environment which will deter acts of sexual harassment.
