Nirmal Chandra Uniyal holds the position of Chief Librarian of the Uttaranchal Group of Institutions (UGI). He has earned his degree Associate-ship in Information Science (AIS) from National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resource (NISCAIR), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), New Delhi.

He has earned respect and confidence of academic community and professionals of Library and Information Science by virtue of his technical expertise and administrative skills. The IT application in services of information science, automation of libraries, implementation of Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP), Developing Digital Library using open source software are some of his commendable achievements. Subscriptions to e-resources, implementation of library security system are few paradigm of his strength. National Papers / Publications on Forest management and Medicinal plants are to his credit. He has attended various National and International seminars/workshops including South and East Asian Non Timber Forest Products Network (SEANN) Workshop held at Katmandu, Nepal.
