Quality Policy

Uttaranchal Institute of Technology (UIT) is committed to provide high quality professional education in the field of Engineering and Management with an intent to enhance the intrinsic skill of the students and promote their management and technological traits. The Institute has established system for monitoring and examining of academic procedures like lesson plans, completion of syllabus and manuals. A well established hierarchical and organizational structure, authority system, documentation procedure, safety and security system are fully functional.

UIT is also committed to comply with the requirements and continuously improve the effectiveness of the quality management system.

The management of the institute has fixed a goal of achieving excellence in field of education. The faculty have formulated system of lecture plans, time table and generally use pragmatic teaching procedures. It has been emphasized by the management time and again that one of the primary objectives of the Institute is to achieve full satisfaction of the students because the existence of the Institute depends on continuous student support. Quality education is a cooperative effort and cannot be achieved solely on the basis of orders or directives from the management. It is necessary that the quality policy should be understood at all levels especially teaching faculty, staff and students and that it should take into the account the management background, culture, technological and changing trends and as well as management’s long term goals

Long Term Goals
1. Accreditation of all Departments from (NBA) AICTE National Board of Accreditation.
2. Modernization of Laboratories and introduction of innovative methods for conducting practicals.
3. Digitization and automation achieved.
4. Promotion of Research and Development activities and taking up consultancy assignments.
5. Augmentation of corporate resource centre by laying stress on industry institute interface, industrial collaboration and students absorption for employment.
6. Foreign collaboration inter related to faculty exchange programme, training curriculum development and continuing education etc.

7. Contemplating under graduate programs in the disciplines of:-
(I) Biotechnology
(II) Chemical engineering.

8. Introduction of post graduate M. Tech programmes in the disciplines of
  i Digital communication
  ii Microwave engineering
  iii Computer Science engineering
  iv Power systems and drive
  v Thermal engineering

9. Participating in rural development programmes relevant to the needs of the state of Uttarakhand.
10. Expansion of existing Lecture Theaters, Laboratories, Library and Computer Centre to meet futuristic demand consequent to gradual increase in the strength of the students with introduction of new courses and increased intake.
11. Construction of auditorium and student activity centre.
12. Construction of open air theatre and swimming pool.
13. Construction of guest house, faculty and staff quarters.

Short Term Goals
1. Introduction of modified system for lecture delivery and to make the classrooms fully audio visual aided.
2. Round the clock internet facility in computer centre and central library.
3. Recruitment of experienced and qualified regular faculty.
4. Training and skill development programme for faculty and staff.
5. Enriching departmental library and addition of national and International journals and other learning resources.

Quality Objectives

  • To provide a sound, academic and technical infrastructure augmented with extra curricular facilities for all round development of the students.

  • To improve the technical mindset of the students according to the dynamic technological innovations.

  • To produce professionally qualified engineers who could stand at the cutting edge of the technology and provide impetus to the global economy.

  • To develop an Institute of national character offering courses in engineering and management.

  • To impart quality education to the engineering students in their respective disciplines viz., Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering etc.

  • To provide the students on roll an opportunity for hands on experience in nearby industries and R & D organization.

  • To develop the total personality of young students by providing them all kinds of amenities e.g. outdoor/indoor sports, cultural activities, debates, quiz and developing hobbies etc.

PROSPECTIVE PLAN

Uttaranchal Institute of Technology was established in 2006 and started B.Tech course in the disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering in the year 2006-07 with initial intake of 240 students.

In the year 2007-08 an additional branch of Mechanical Engineering with intake of 60 students was added alongwith post graduate course of MBA with intake of 60 students making total intake of 360 students.

In the year 2008-09 the intake in Computer Science and Engineering was increased to 120 revising total intake to 420. In the academic session 2009-10 an increase in intake of Electronics and Communication Engineering from 60 to 120 is expected which will ultimately enhance the total intake to 480 students.

In 2010-2011 the institute intends to add additional branch of Civil Engineering with 60 intake and plans to start post graduate course of M.Tech in the disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering with specialization in Digital Communication and Microwave Engineering and Electrical and Electronics Engineering with specialization in Power Systems and Electrical Drives.

The prospective long range goals of the Institute are:-

1. Offer M.Tech Degree course in the disciplines of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering.

2. Starting the courses of Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Marine Engineering, Architecture, Pharmacy, Hotel Management and Catering Technology, Fashion and Apparel design and Post Graduate Diploma courses in Management (PGDM) / Business Management (PGDBM).

3. Accreditation of all departments from AICTE, National Board of Accreditation.

4. Promotion of Research and Development activities and taking up consultancy Assignments.

5. Developing Entrepreneur Development cell and Centre of excellence in the area of Robotics and Automation.

6. Collaboration with Foreign universities for faculty teaching programme, training, curricular development, continuing education, Research and Development and Joint consultancy programme.

7. Admission of Foreign students.

8. Encouraging students to participate in community development schemes in rural areas of Uttarakhand adjoining the institute.

9. Acquisition of academic autonomy.

10. Obtaining Deemed University Status.
